<p>VW and Ford said in June that they were <strong>considering a strategic alliance</strong> focused on a range of commercial vehicles.</p>
<p>In an <strong>interview with </strong><em><strong>Automotive News</strong></em> published this week, Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess said the discussions could go much further, including the possible sharing of VW's flexible EV platform and the potential use of Ford's midsize Ranger platform to replace the aging VW Amarok pickup sold outside the U.S.</p>
<p>VW plans to roll out the first fully-electric vehicles in 2020, starting with the I.D. Neo hatchback in Europe.</p>
<p>The deliberations between Volkswagen and Ford also include VW building a compact panel van about the size of its Caddy model for Ford, while the U.S. manufacturer could produce a successor to VW's T6 van at its low-cost factory in Turkey to improve returns, according to the people. In South America, the companies could bundle production of Amarok and Ranger at the German company's site in Pacheco, Argentina, in a move to share cost.</p>
<p>The VW board of supervisors will consider its strategic relationship with Ford on Nov. 16, Reuters reported.</p>
<p>Ford CFO Bob Shanks last month told Bloomberg, &quot;We're having a very broad set of discussions about how we can help each other around the world. Collaboration isn't being limited in any way whatsoever.&quot;</p>
<p>Self-driving cars are expected to upend the transportation industry and become a business worth $7 trillion by mid-century, according to a report last year by Intel Corp. and Strategy Analytics. Automakers who get it right will be on track to more than double the industry's meager profit margins and build a more prosperous future. But those who fail may not have a future at all.</p>
<p>Together with its self-driving partner Argo AI, Ford has said it's open to outside investment in its autonomous efforts by a second automaker. The talks to bring on VW are progressing well and have the potential to create a global competitor in the self-driving race, one person familiar with the discussions said.</p>
<p>Having two major automaker customers would put Argo on similar footing with Cruise Automation, General Motors' autonomous unit that last month took on a $2.75 billion investment from Honda Motor Co.</p>
<p>Ford has been struggling to reverse losses in markets including Europe and South America. It's also in talks with Mahindra &amp; Mahindra Ltd. to broaden an alliance that began to develop models for India and other emerging markets, including sport utility vehicles and electric cars.</p>
<p>Urban deliveries</p>
<p>Joining forces would allow VW and Ford to gain critical scale in a commercial-vehicle market that's been boosted by growth in deliveries to online shoppers. At the same time, the segment faces tightening emissions rules across the globe: Some major cities are considering allowing only electric vehicles into downtown areas.</p>
<p>Combined annual sales of roughly 1.1 million light commercial vehicles would put Ford and VW on par with other alliances like the tie-up between Daimler AG, Renault and Nissan. For VW's light-commercial-vehicle unit based in Hanover, Germany, the Ford cooperation could be key to its future strategy.</p>
<p>The division has been struggling to expand outside Europe and South America, partly due to high manufacturing costs for some vehicles in Germany. With the Traton AG heavy-truck unit being separated to prepare a for possible share sale, the light commercial-vehicle operations risk being folded into the much-larger VW cars division if the Ford cooperation doesn't generate the anticipated benefits in coming years, according to the people who spoke to Bloomberg.</p>

<p>In Europa konnte Mercedes-Benz im letzten Monat 54.989 Fahrzeuge absetzen (-10,7%). In den ersten acht Monaten des Jahres lagen die Verkaufszahlen insgesamt bei 597.347 Einheiten (-3,9%). Auf dem Heimatmarkt Deutschland hat Mercedes-Benz im August 21.442 Fahrzeuge mit Stern ausgeliefert (-14,8%). Seit Anfang des Jahres wurden in Deutschland insgesamt 195.163 Pkw an Kunden &uuml;bergeben (-4,2%). In Frankreich, Spanien, Schweden, Polen und D&auml;nemark sind in den ersten acht Monaten des Jahres mehr Fahrzeuge mit Stern verkauft worden als jemals zuvor in diesem Zeitraum.</p>
<p>In der Region Asien-Pazifik f&uuml;hrte die Nachfrage nach Modellen von Mercedes-Benz per August zu einem neuen Bestwert von 639.184 Einheiten (+9,8%). Die Marke mit dem Stern lieferte dort im vergangenen Monat 72.342 Fahrzeuge aus und blieb leicht unter dem starken Vorjahresniveau (-1,3%). Im gr&ouml;&szlig;ten Absatzmarkt China wurde mit 53.295 verkauften Pkw eine neue August-Bestmarke erreicht (+5,5%). Insgesamt wurden dort bereits 446.075 Fahrzeuge an Kunden &uuml;bergeben – so viele, wie noch nie in den ersten acht Monaten eines Jahres (+13,9%). Mercedes-Benz erreichte seit Jahresbeginn weitere Absatzrekorde in den M&auml;rkten Japan, Indien, Thailand und Malaysia.</p>

<h5><strong>Absatz Mercedes-Benz nach Modellen</strong></h5>
<p>Die E-Klasse Limousine und das T-Modell erzielten im vergangenen Monat einen neuen Bestwert mit einem Absatz von 25.367 Einheiten (+0,4%). Seit der Markteinf&uuml;hrung der aktuellen Modelle konnten sich bereits &uuml;ber 700.000 Kunden weltweit &uuml;ber die Auslieferung einer E-Klasse Limousine oder eines T-Modells freuen.</p>
<p>Mercedes-Benz steigerte die Verkaufszahlen der S-Klasse Limousine im August um 30,3% auf 5.254 Einheiten. Von Januar bis August konnten &uuml;ber 53.000 Einheiten der S-Klasse Limousine verkauft werden (+26,6%). Die Mercedes-Maybach S-Klasse Limousine erzielte dank eines hohen zweistelligen Wachstums weltweit den bisher h&ouml;chsten Absatz per August.</p>
<p>Bei den SUVs konnte in den ersten acht Monaten des Jahres ein neuer Bestwert erreicht werden: Weltweit wurden insgesamt 541.120 SUVs mit Stern ausgeliefert, ein Plus von 5,4%. Ein wichtiger Treiber hierf&uuml;r war die weltweite Beliebtheit des GLC und GLC Coup&eacute;s. Auf dem Absatz-Erfolg der Midsize SUVs von Mercedes-Benz setzt auch der EQC auf, der in Stockholm als erster vollelektrischer SUV der Produkt- und Technologiemarke EQ der Welt&ouml;ffentlichkeit vorgestellt wurde.<strong>

<p>8.470 Kunden konnten sich weltweit im August &uuml;ber die Auslieferung eines neuen zwei- oder viert&uuml;rigen Stadtflitzers der Marke smart freuen (+9,8%); insgesamt wurden seit Jahresbeginn 85.534 Fahrzeuge verkauft (-2,6%). Der Umbau zur rein elektrischen Marke schreitet bei smart weiter erfolgreich voran: Nie zuvor wurden im und per August so viele Einheiten der elektrischen smart Modelle verkauft wie in 2018.</p>

Eg. An R15 engine being 155cc delivers 19 BHP (V3), so is there any limitations or what's the max power that can be drawn from the same ? </p>

<p>A Camaro LT convertible in Satin Steel Gray Metallic along with over a dozen vehicle concepts will join&nbsp;the Shock Camaro as well as the latest batch of crate engines for vintage Chevys like the black 1973 Chevelle Laguna seen below. SEMA runs from October 30 to November 2 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.</p>

<p>With governments everywhere attempting to reduce powerplant emissions while simultaneously moving the teeming masses out of ICE vehicles and into electric cars, an energy brick wall quickly approaches. You’re faced with a situation where more people are drawing more power from the grid, but — for environmental or financial reasons — generating more power is out of the question.</p>
<p>In Germany, one solution is to get those EV drivers to stop what they’re doing and plug back into the grid, allowing the contents of their just-filled batteries to flow back into the plug it came from. Goodbye, brownouts. Possibly. If the solution seems odd and potentially self-defeating, it is, but the country’s government just approved the Nissan Leaf for exactly this use.<span id="more-1646312 &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;As reported by &lt;em&gt;Reuters&lt;/em&gt; (via &lt;em&gt;Automotive News Europe&lt;/em&gt;), the German government’s thumbs-up makes the Leaf the first EV approved for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) power generation. To make the system viable, Leaf owners would have to utilize a wall charger capable of reversing the flow of current, drawing the car’s power back into the grid.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;“We strongly believe in an emission-free future,” Guillaume Pelletreau, Vice President and Managing Director of Nissan Center Europe, said in a statement. “Leaf batteries could make an important contribution to energy transition in Germany and a sustainable future.”&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The UK, as well as other European countries, began examining this type of system years ago. Currently, a UK government-backed 2-year pilot project is examining the feasibility of such a setup. It also uses Nissan Leafs. The pilot shows how car owners would be compensated for having strangers tap into their car’s juice, though this method only seems to work if the car owners are also homeowners.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;How exactly Germany plans to compensate the Leaf owners isn’t immediately clear. Calling on Leafs and other electric vehicles to be pressed into service as mobile power stations during periods of high energy use is a novel idea, but owners won’t feel compelled to do it unless a different type of green flows into their wallets.
